Who we are
Nile Pioneers is a youth-led, volunteer-run initiative. Contact us about your information through the contact form or the email address in the footer.
What we collect, and why

We ask for an age range, not a date of birth, and we never ask for documents, ID numbers or payment details through this website.
Separate permissions
Each permission is recorded separately, with the date and the version of this notice:
- Using your information for your application or enquiry. Required to process it.
- A parent or guardian's agreement for applicants under 18.
- The newsletter. Optional, never pre-ticked, and only after you confirm by email. Applying to a program never subscribes you.
- Publication. We never publish a story, photo or name of a participant without a separate publication permission. For young people under 18 or in vulnerable circumstances, we may decide not to publish identifying details even with permission.
Who can see your information
Only named team members whose role needs it. A reviewer sees only the applications assigned to them. There is no public student directory, and every change to a record is logged.
Services we use
- Hosting and database: our web hosting provider stores the website and the database.
- Email: receipts and replies are sent by our email service. The newsletter may be sent through a dedicated email-delivery provider, which receives only the subscriber's email address and language.
We do not sell your information or share it with sponsors or partners. Partners never receive access to student data.
How long we keep it
- Unconfirmed newsletter sign-ups: deleted after 14 days.
- Declined or withdrawn applications: deleted 24 months after the decision.
- Participants' records: kept while you take part in our programs, so we can report what actually happened, and deleted on request.
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe. A minimal suppression record is kept so we never email you again by mistake.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw a permission at any time. Use the Your data rights form. To protect you, we act on requests sent from the email address we have on record, or after confirming your identity another way.
